Guilt Free Breath is a joint initiative by the Rotaract Clubs of Kadawatha, NIBM, University Alumni, Interact Club of Ananda College, Gothami Balika Vidyalaya, Mahanama College, Nalanda College together with Colombo Changemakers Round Table 09.

With Global Warming in the current world, we have come to a level where people die without Oxygen in Air, where it’s a negative indication for human beings. Therefore Colombo Changemakers Round Table 09 came up with an idea to increase the oxygen level in Sri Lanka.

As a first step, they, together with the Rotaract Clubs, decided to start from Schools in Western Province to plant trees to give the Students a lesson to see the change a single tree can do and to make them take the message home to plant more trees cause they are the future of this country.

Halting Hunger

Halting Hunger is the inaugural effort of the Rotaract Club of NIBM to help achieve the SDGs: NoPoverty (Target 1.1), Zero Hunger (Target 2.1) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (Target 8.5).

The first phase of the project focused on ensuring access by poor and people in vulnerable situations, to safe and sufficient food. During the troubling times under COVID-19 pandemic with travelling restrictions and less employable opportunities, we were able to collect more than 70 lunch packets from the homes of the project committee members and to distribute the packets among more than 20 families and more than 70 individuals around Colombo area.

The second phase of the project focused on a sustainable solution to overcome hunger by providing productive employment and decent work for a family. A family of five (05) living in Kaduwela, who has been going through difficulties due to the aftermath of COVID-19 was chosen by the committee and provided with a grass cutter machine for the father as per his request as a method of earning income in a sustainable manner alongside with essential dry rations.
