“Speak Now ’23 ” was an exhilarating and empowering public speaking event that celebrated the power of communication and self-expression, which happend on the 20th of July 2023 at NIBM SOB premises. It was conducted by the renowned News anchor & Communications and Media Professional, Mr. Sandro Sathyajith Perera, in which he shared his compelling narratives and unique perspectives. He brought a wealth of knowledge, experience and inspiration to all the Rotaractors who were present that day. It offered guidance on etiquette during public speaking engagements, including how to engage the audience, handle questions, and deliver a compelling message. Through a series of inspiring talks, interactive sessions, and engaging discussions, “Speak Now” aimed to uplift, educate, and ignite conversations on a wide range of topics, from personal growth to empowerment to societal challenges and innovation.

Project Endgame ‘23, a groundbreaking self-defense empowerment and training initiative, was launched through the collaborative efforts of the Rotaract clubs of NIBM, SLIIT, and the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo (FOLUOC). It took place on the 18th of November, a Saturday, at the NIBM premises in Colombo 07. The program provided a unique opportunity for individuals to enhance their personal safety skills. It was guided by the expertise of Mr. Thushara Rathnayake, a certified martial arts instructor. Participants were engaged in comprehensive workshops covering martial arts techniques, situational awareness, and conflict resolution. Adding a crucial legal perspective to the initiative, Mr. Prashantha Lal De Alwis, a seasoned legal expert, president’s counsel, and a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, served as the guest speaker. This collaborative endeavor was designed to address the multifaceted challenges individuals face in violent, abusive, or harassing situations. We were dedicated to raise awareness about the legal aspects surrounding self-defense, ensuring that participants are well-informed and capable of navigating the legal landscape responsibly when faced with such challenging situations. This project empowered participants with practical skills, instilled confidence, and raised awareness about the legal aspects of self-defense, contributing to a safer and more confident community. By fostering a community that is well-prepared, informed, and ethically grounded, this project contributed to creating a safer and a more resilient society.



branding brilliance
The “Branding Brilliance” project was a dynamic initiative focused on enhancing the professional development of our members by empowering them to refine their LinkedIn profiles and establish a distinctive personal branding system. This project aimed to equip participants with essential skills and insights to stand out in a competitive job market.
Executed as an event on December 01, 2023, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, the project leveraged the online platform Zoom for accessibility. It was a collaborative effort between the Rotaract Clubs of the College of Chemical Sciences and NIBM, along with partnerships with Interact Clubs from various institutions.






ROTARACT HUNGER GAMES
The Rotaract Hunger Games, held on the 5th of March in Colombo, was an exhilarating scavenger hunt race designed to challenge participants both mentally and physically. This dynamic event focused on developing essential skills through a series of engaging and thought-provoking challenges. It commenced at Viharamahadevi Park, the event progressed through various iconic locations in Colombo, including Racecourse and Arcade, and culminated at the NIBM School of Computing (SOC) in Colombo 07. The project required participants to navigate through the city, solving clues that directed them from one location to the next. 9 teams, each consisting of 4-6 members, competed in the scavenger hunt race. The challenges at each location were designed to test and enhance various skills. Successfully completing the challenges required effective collaboration and coordination within teams, while participants had to take on leadership roles, delegating tasks and making strategic decisions. The event concluded with the announcement of the winning team at NIBM SOC, Colombo 07. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, celebrating their exceptional performance and skills. The Rotaract Hunger Games provided a platform for participants to think outside the box, solve puzzles, and approach challenges from various perspectives. The event was a significant opportunity for individuals to enhance their teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, observational, and self-awareness skills in a practical and engaging environment. Overall, the Rotaract Hunger Games was not just a test of intellect and physical endurance but also a celebration of the human spirit’s resilience and ingenuity, successfully bringing together young minds and encouraging them to push their limits and emerge as more capable and self-aware individuals.

Project Get Sponsored 2.0, merged the realms of sponsorship acquisition and personal finance management into a single, comprehensive platform, empowering individuals, content creators, and small businesses to not only secure lucrative sponsorships but also manage their finances effectively to achieve long-term financial stability and growth. Gathering finances for a project is a main pain point of any organization attempting to do a project, the significance in Get Sponsored lies there in how we introduced set methodologies on how we could acquire finances to effectively carry out our projects. By providing accessible information on managing personal finances, the project contributes to the empowerment of individuals, enabling them to navigate financial challenges with confidence. It was held on the 17th of January 2024 from 7:00 PM onwards via Google Meet. It was led by Mr. Shimar Ahamed, a distinguished figure in project management, agile methodologies, and business strategy, the session provided participants with actionable insights to enhance their sponsorship endeavors. With Mr. Shimar’s extensive experience representing organizations on both local and international fronts, participants gained valuable knowledge on identifying potential sponsors, crafting compelling proposals, nurturing relationships, and maximizing ROI. Through real-world examples and engaging discussions, the participants were equipped with the tools necessary to forge successful sponsorship partnerships. Get Sponsored 2.0 revolutionizes the way individuals and businesses approach sponsorship acquisition and personal finance management, offering a holistic platform that empowers users to thrive financially while pursuing their passions and goals. Overall, the scale of Get Sponsored 2.0 reflects its goal to address diverse aspects of financial literacy and community empowerment. We mainly catered to Rotaractors & Interactors that were keen on acquiring sponsorships for their projects but ultimately we were able to enhance the scope of the project to cater to individuals to maintain and take full advantage of their personal finances. Through its actionable advice and practical resources, this project has the potential to impact a wide audience positively, at both individual and community levels, empowering participants to make meaningful contributions to the society.
