Ultimate Futsal Championship
“Ultimate Futsal Champions” was an electrifying and action-packed Futsal event that celebrated fellow
NIBM student’s skills and talent in futsal, which happened on the 30th of August 2023 at the Colombo
Futsal Club court, Dehiwala.
The event showcased outstanding performances, fierce competition, and a celebration of sportsmanship
among the participated teams. This recap captures the essence of the tournament, highlighting key moments,
results, and the overall impact on the futsal community.
The Futsal Tournament brought together teams from diverse backgrounds, each vying for supremacy on the
futsal court. The event aimed not only to determine the best team but also to promote camaraderie and
enthusiasm for the sport. The tournament featured 16 teams, ranging from seasoned futsal teams to
enthusiastic amateur squads. This diversity added to the competitive spirit of the event.
The matches throughout the tournament were intensely competitive, showcasing the skill and determination
of the players. Every game was a spectacle, filled with incredible goals, tactical brilliance, and heart-
stopping saves. One of the standout features of the tournament was the display of sportsmanship by all
participating teams. Fair play, respect for opponents, and a spirit of camaraderie were evident on and off the
court.
“Ultimate Futsal Champions” drew a sizable and passionate audience, creating a vibrant atmosphere at 150
Spectators were treated to high-quality futsal action and an overall enjoyable experience.
JAGUARS
In the sports world, proudly representing your team is super important. That’s exactly what the “Jaguars” project set out to do. RACNIBM decided to make sports clothes and launched their special team jersey, and everyone loved it.
The jersey had a cool and modern design, with the club’s symbol right there, proudly showing who they are. It wasn’t just a stylish sports outfit; it also meant being part of the same group.
With this project, RACNIBM made over 18,000 LKR in profit, proving it was a smart move. But more importantly, it showed how connected and passionate the club’s members are.
The “Jaguars” project was a special and new idea that proved RACNIBM cares about both sports and bringing people together. It brought members closer, filled them with pride, and gave them a real symbol of being part of the RACNIBM family.
Beach Bash
Beach Bash is an outgoing fun project which is organized by the Sports and Recreational Avenue of Rotaract Club of NIBM to embrace the beach vibes and a day full of recreational events. This was held on the 13th of January 2024 at the Mount Lavinia Beach.
This project was done with the intention of building fellowship among the members, to make their bond stronger at the beginning of the new year 2024 by letting them engage with their fellow members with recreational events in friendly and a completive way.
The day kicked off at 8:00 am, filled with sun-soaked vibes that lasted well into the evening. Members had a blast playing beach football and tap rugby, creating unforgettable moments of laughter and fellowship under the sun ensuring that every second was a cherished part of our collective journey.
Showtime
Project Showtime is an outgoing and fun activity which is organized by the Sports and Recreational
Avenue of Rotaract Club of NIBM.
This project was done with the intention of building fellowship among the members,
showcasing their skills and this was also done to build long lasting connections with the
respective club as well.
Century Hitters
At the National Institute of Business Management (NIBM), Sri Lanka, Century Hitters, an annual event
organized by the Sports and Recreational Avenue of Rotarat Club (RACNIBM), was a noteworthy assembly.
Regardless of their faculty affiliation, cricket enthusiasts from all over campus gathered to celebrate their
common love of the game during this time. The tournament was enriched with a overall participation of 600
plus students including audience.
Teams from all faculties entered the pitch with a strong sense of purpose and excitement, eager to
demonstrate their cricket skills. Century Hitters was open to all students, regardless of experience level,
providing a welcoming environment for companionship and competition
The tournament structure as follows, It consist of two rounds,
First was the league round where all the teams played against two of the competing teams and at
the end of the league round the leader board was created based on Net Run Rate of each teams
out of the 32 teams, the first 16 teams of the leader board would qualify into the 2nd round of the
tournament which is the Knockout stage.
The knockout stage started from the Super 16 round, where the match brackets were created
based on the leaderboard of the league round in ‘First v Last’ order.
The knockout round then proceeded by Super 16, Quarter finals, Semi Finals and the Finale which
uplifted the winning team out of the remaining 31 competed teams of the tournament, giving the
Champions title of the Century Hitters tournament 2024. Throughout the tournament NIBM spirit
flourished as friendships were formed amid chants and cheers.
However, Century Hitters was an opportunity for students to connect on the field rather than just competing
in a softball cricket event. After-match gatherings and team-building activities fostered relationships and
produced enduring memories.
The finalists, who gave it their best to win, came under the spotlight as the competition came to an end. And
even while the winners celebrated, what really made Century Hitters unique were the relationships and
experiences exchanged.
The NIBM student community was left with treasured memories and deepened friendships as another edition
of Century Hitters drew to an end, a monument to the everlasting spirit of cricket and camaraderie at the
university.
Battle of Colombo
Battle of Colombo is a Softball cricket encounter, which is organized by the Sports and Recreational Avenue of Rotaract Club of NIBM and Rotaract club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance. This was an outdoor cricket match, held on the 23th of January 2024, done by Collaboration of two Club to play a friendly match level at the Colombo University Grounds.
This project was done with the intention of building fellowship among the members, showcasing their skills and this was also done to build long lasting connections with the respective clubs as well.
The Colombo University Grounds, reserved for a duration of 2 hours, witnessed the enthusiastic participation of club members who displayed their sportsmanship and team spirit.
